On May 14, 2024, Amit and Chintan Pandya received devastating news that no parent wants to hear. One of their twin boys, Ansh Pandya who is only 4 years old, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer known as DIPG, diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma. This is a very rare type of childhood cancer that is difficult to treat with chances of survival less than 1%. The growth of this tumour in Ansh’s brain has affected his speech, ability to swallow, maintain balance, and has caused extreme weakness. He now requires support with many aspects of his life. Due to the location of this tumour, it cannot be removed and radiation is the only option in Canada.
The family has been informed of clinical trials and an expensive drug called ONC201 that is available outside of Canada which may help to improve Ansh’s quality of life. This however would require them to travel.
Amit and Chintan are currently off work to focus their attention on Ansh, yet they still have bills to pay, groceries to buy, rent, taxi fares to get to and from the hospital, just to name a few of the many expenses they are incurring day to day.
The cost of the drug, travel, and basic living expenses all come with a high cost and that’s where we need your support. Please graciously consider a donation to this family in a time of need. Thank you in advance.
