Help Support My Sister’s Recovery from Rare SMA Surgery
Hi everyone,
I’m starting this fundraiser on behalf of my sister Anpo, who has recently undergone a serious and life-saving surgery after a long struggle with a rare condition called Superior Mesenteric Artery (SMA) Syndrome.
After years of pain and medical issues, she was finally diagnosed in April 2024. This condition caused her stomach to enlarge and led to a ruptured ulcer, which required an emergency surgery known as a duodenojejunostomy.
Her health struggles have been ongoing for years, and in September and October of 2023, she was life-flighted four times due to complications from SMA syndrome. In June 2024, she was hospitalized twice at Avera McKennan Hospital. Despite needing surgery sooner, she was unable to schedule it earlier because she didn’t have enough medical leave through her job.
She works at our tribal nursing home and has dedicated herself to caring for elders in our community. Now, because of the extended recovery time, she will be unable to return to work for a while.
We are asking for help to cover:
• Out-of-pocket medical expenses
• Travel costs to and from medical appointments
• Basic living expenses while she recovers and cannot work
Anything you can give is truly appreciated. If you can’t donate at this time, please consider sharing this link to help spread the word.
Thank you for your support, prayers, and love during this difficult time.
