Help Annie Win Her Battle

CANCER. The six letter word that nobody wants to hear, feel and bear. No warning, no hint, not even a clear sign , it strikes and hits someone really bad. It’s like a lightning that pierces inside the ear when you hear it uttered and comes down to crush your heart .When you hear that someone who has it ... a relative , a friend, colleague or anyone that you might just bumped into , it will make you sad ... really sad.

I am Patty Hernandez, divorced and a mother of three. My father passed away last year of lung cancer . I am still mourning for losing him and trying to cope up . But after three months , my sister brought me the news that it’s her turn to fight and battle with cancer this time. She is my eldest sister and we are thousands of miles apart, she is currently residing in the Philippines. Her name is “ANNIE “, a mother of two whom she is raising solely for 8 years. She is brave, kind, loving, generous now she is diagnosed with esophageal cancer (stage 3) . For several months she has no solid food intake . In order to ingest and digest food , she has undergone surgery to have a feeding tube attached to her stomach. She has sessions of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and immunotherapy in order to beat the big “C”.

Inspite of Annie’s ordeal , she still manages to put her feet on the ground , wear a smile on her face and put on her working outfit to make ends meet . Our mom always tell and remind her to rest and take a break , but her answer is always the same , “ Mom, how could I afford my treatment if I don’t work ? “ . She was right isn’t she ? Nobody to count on but herself , nobody will help her pay her bills if she stop working , it’s all on her . Her medical insurance from her job was exhausted and reached its limit last August . She has to pay out of pocket and she already used her savings and her other monetary funds got depleted. No one to turn to for financial help . Wish I have tons of money to help and save her but I also don’t have the means nor anyone in the family to raise the money that she needed for her medical expenses. We just ask for Divine mercy and blessings that God will provide her what she needs to be well again.

She will undergo another surgery , future months post-op treatments , immunotherapy and series of tests and blood works. Suffering in silence , physically, mentally and emotionally. I wish I can help her but it’s only my desire to do so. I am reaching out to everyone who can walk through with her battle with cancer. Annie and I will be blessed if you can help and support her with her MEDICAL and daily expenses . Her medical team estimated a total of $70,000.00 for her surgery and post-op treatments and medicines.
