Help Annie Teed beat breast cancer!
Donation protected
Annie, Adam, and Allia Teed need your help. Annie is a full-time preschool teacher and is currently finishing her degree in Early Childhood Education while also caring for her husband. Annie is an artist and avid crafter. She has cared for other people her whole life, from helping care for her father after an accident to supporting her entire community in Bellingham. Lately, she has been working within her professional and regional communities to ensure all families can afford high quality childcare, preschool, and mental health services for their children and to improve conditions for early childhood educators. Adam was a nurse technician in the ICU but was diagnosed with progressive MS in 2013 and has not been able to work for the last several years. He recently has begun to use a wheelchair full time and has lost the use of his left arm. Allia is going to be a junior in high school this fall and is looking forward to going to college at Washington State University for Fashion Design and Marketing.
Annie was diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer in March 2024, and has not been able to work since her surgery in April. She is now undergoing the first of three rounds of chemotherapy, which will last a total of five months and will be followed up by radiation treatment. In order to do her regular blood work and imaging appointments in her home city of Bellingham, Washington, rather than drive three hours to Seattle, she has to go to a medical center that is out-of-network for her insurance. The state of Washington only provides 16 weeks of Family Medical Leave, and she has used up her personal and medical leave at work. With her compromised immune system resulting from chemotherapy, she will be unable to return to work at the preschool this fall while she is undergoing treatment. Therefore, she won’t be able to return to work until spring of 2025 at the earliest. With the Teeds being a single-income family, they are going to be in dire financial straits once the FAML runs out.
We are trying to raise money to cover their mortgage and bills starting in September and lasting through March, as well as paying for medical expenses not covered by insurance. Therefore, we are looking to raise $12,000 to make sure that the Teed family does not have to worry about these costs while Annie is undergoing treatment for her cancer. If you can, please donate any amount to help the family, and please share this page so we can get the word out broadly. Thank you!
