Help Annie, Sam, and Emily Rebuild After Wildfire

Help the Bloom-Leffe Family Rebuild Their Lives After the Palisades Fire

Our cousins, Annie and Sam Leffe, along with their mother, Emily Bloom, have tragically lost their family home of 40 years in the Palisades Fire. Like so many others, their once-close-knit neighborhood of Sunset Mesa, Malibu, CA, has been devastated, leaving them without the sanctuary they called home for decades.

Annie and Sam, 31-year-old twins both on the autism spectrum, are particularly affected by this loss. For adults with autism, familiar routines, cherished collections, and a stable environment are essential for creating a sense of calm and security. Their home was far more than just a place to live—it was their anchor, offering comfort and structure in a world that can often feel overwhelming.

Now, with everything they knew and cherished gone, they face the daunting task of rebuilding their lives. The full weight of this loss is still settling in, but one thing is clear: the road ahead will be long and challenging for all three of them, especially Annie and Sam, whose lives have been completely uprooted.

Annie has always loved reading, coloring by numbers, working on jigsaw puzzles, and watching nature documentaries. She finds joy in spending time with animals, friends, and family. Annie is incredibly talented at sketching, but sadly, she lost her sketchbooks and the majority of her recent artwork in the fire. She also enjoys singing, listening to her favorite music through her headphones, and learning about new cultures—especially by trying their foods. Annie is a huge fan of BEASTARS, loved collecting Monster High figurines, and cherished her book collection.

One of Sam’s favorite activities is visiting the library, where he could spend hours reading books about animals and trains—subjects he is deeply passionate about. He also had an extensive personal book collection, which was tragically lost in the fire. Though Sam is non-speaking, he has a remarkable way of expressing himself through his love of music, singing, and his excitement for the things he enjoys. He’s an avid Disney fan who lights up at the chance to watch a classic Disney movie. Sam also enjoys playing basketball, exploring new places, and is always ready for an adventure, embracing the world in his own unique way.

Everything they held dear—artwork, pictures, home videos, stuffed animals, clothing, shoes, books, and all the familiar comforts of their bedrooms—is gone. While they will soon transition to an apartment near other family members, the new environment will feel unfamiliar to them, understandably adding to their anxiety as they adjust to a completely new setting.

We want to help Annie, Sam, and Emily recreate a sense of safety, stability, and comfort in their new home. Funds raised will go towards making their new place feel like home again—filled with the familiar items and routines that will bring them peace and a sense of security.
