Hello to Annie’s friends, family members, community members, lovers of the Cove community and all fellow travelers. In the wee hours (about 3:00 AM) of December 11th, a 3-alarm sixth-floor (top floor) fire broke out at 50 Golden Gate Avenue, a residence that 45 residents called home. When the fire was subdued around 5:30AM, these same 45 residents were displaced due to the now smoke-laden and charred Tenderloin building that they once called home. One of those residents was Annie, beloved Cove on Castro server, our own incomparable wise and wonderful Annie. Thankfully, every resident of 50 Golden Gate Ave, including pets, made it out of the building safely thanks to the help of the SF Fire Department. A few dozen residents including Annie were temporarily sheltered in a Muni bus to keep warmish and eventually taken to a nearby church.
Annie left her smoke-laden apartment with only the clothes on her back and a few other personal items. The funds raised from this site will help Annie access temporary shelter, replace essential belongings, and support her as she works to rebuild her life after the fire. Your support will make a meaningful difference during this difficult time.
