My name is Clara and I am helping raise funds to help repair my friend Annet's Mum's house. I met Annet when I travelled to Uganda last year. I lived at her house for a week when I participated to the Servas Peace School in the village of Buyoga, in the Bukomansimbi District. We became good friends and her family treated me as one of them during my stay.

Last week, there was as severe storm with heavy rain and wind in the area. Those extreme climate events are becoming more frequent due to Climate Change. Annet's mum's house was damaged during storm and the roofs went off rendering the home inhabitable. Annet's Mum is a 75 years old woman who lives alone and cannot afford the repairs. Two houses were destroyed because the poles were eaten by termites and were more vulnerable to the storm.

I am asking you to make a contribution to help me raise the funds to ensure the repairs and that Annet's Mum can return to her home. For transparency, here is the breakdown on how the funds will be spent (in Ugandan shillings):

50 iron sheets @ 28,000=1,400,000

Nails 10kg @7500=75,000

Cement 3bags @38,000=114,000

Labour =600,000

Transport=100,000

Total= 2,989,000 Ushs (equivalent to £622)
