Hi, my name is Lynne, and I am raising funds to help an old and dear friend during the scariest of all cancers - brain cancer. Anne found out she has Stage 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) in November 2022. She had surgery to remove 75% of the tumor, but this bilateral little beast still needs radiation therapy and chemotherapy for many weeks, if not longer. This will be an expensive and ongoing process.
Anne was my freshman-year roommate at Willamette University and the maid of honor at my wedding. We've been friends for over 40 years. We are sisters in Pi Beta Phi sorority along with many other wonderful women who have stayed close throughout the years.
Anne is the beloved teacher at her self-developed forest school (also known as open-air, or waldschule) where she teaches children of all ages. Forest school supports play, and exploration and supports risk-taking. It develops confidence and self-esteem through learner-inspired, hands-on experiences in a natural setting. This is her profession and how she earns a living on her beautiful farm, initially developed by her great-grandparents.
Anne has also been a steward of the land and the community. Over the years she has worked with Women of the Woods, a women's forestry organization, local 4H competitions and judging, and as a member of the local fire board.
Since Anne cannot teach and earn money, nor even live on her farm at this time, the money raised on this GoFundMe will be used for medical expenses and living expenses while she is getting treated.
Thank you for helping Anne.
