Help Baby Anna-Olivia Fight Trisomy 13, She Is Already Defying the Odds!

My name is Petrina, and I am writing on behalf of my dear friend Natalia Whyte-Gardener and her extraordinary daughter, Anna-Olivia Victoria Gardener, who lives in Jamaica.

Anna-Olivia came into this world on September 10, 2025, and from her very first breath, she made it clear she was here to fight.

Within hours of her birth, she began turning blue and was rushed to the NICU at St. Ann’s Bay Hospital, Jamaica. Over nine days, she stabilized after receiving treatment for a serious bacterial infection. It was during that time that doctors discovered she has Trisomy 13, a rare chromosomal condition that carries an extremely challenging prognosis. But if you know Anna-Olivia, you know she didn’t get that memo.

She is still here. She is still fighting. And she is winning.

Anna-Olivia is currently managing seizures with medication, and she faces a full roster of medical challenges that no baby and no parent should have to navigate alone: laryngomalacia and possible tracheomalacia affecting her breathing, gastrointestinal issues, bilateral cataracts threatening her vision, fluid in her ears that may affect her hearing, developmental delays, and a weakened immune system that keeps her family in and out of hospitals.

Despite all of this, I have watched her mother, Natalia, who is a dedicated teacher, pour every ounce of love, strength, and faith into this little girl. Natalia is one of the most devoted, resilient mothers I have ever known, and Anna-Olivia deserves every fighting chance.

Here’s where we need your help.

The cost of Anna-Olivia’s care is immense. Specialist visits, medications, diagnostic testing, surgeries, including procedures to protect her airway and preserve her vision, are already overwhelming the family financially. They are also facing the very real possibility of overseas travel for life-saving treatments that simply aren’t available in Jamaica.

We are raising $30,000 USD to cover:

• Surgical procedures (airway and vision)

• Specialist consultations and diagnostic testing

• Ongoing medications and medical care

• Occupational therapy and early stimulation therapy

• Overseas treatment and travel costs
