Anyone who knows me knows that I have a very hard time asking for help for myself. But that being said, Annabelle—my dog—is very sick. I’ve had her since she was about 8 or 9 weeks old, and there hasn’t been a night she hasn’t slept in between my legs or needed to be close to me. Even now, while she’s sick, she still finds comfort by my side. This is very hard for me to reach out for help, but I can’t do this alone financially.

Annabelle has had ongoing diarrhea since October, and there is now blood in her stool. We’ve been to the vet multiple times, tried different treatment options, medications, and prescription foods—everything that’s supposed to help. Sometimes it seems like she’s improving, but then the symptoms return. The last two nights, I’ve stayed up with her, and every time I start to fall asleep, I hear her in the hallway, unable to hold it in. The vet mentioned possible Cushing’s disease, liver disease, or irritable bowel disease, but we won’t have answers until she gets an ultrasound. I’ve already spent a lot on vet visits and treatments, and the next steps are more than I can manage on my own.
