hey y'all, I'm raising money to finally get top surgery! (thankfully, I have a lovely circle of folks to support me through recovery. so, this money is just for the direct costs of the surgery.)
My name is Annabel, I'm non-binary and queer and I use they/he pronouns. All according to plan I was supposed to get surgery last fall but my insurance denied coverage and continues to despite multiple appeals. My doctors told me that not being on hormones likely wouldn't be an obstacle to getting top surgery, but it hasn't turned out that way. The policy is outdated and awful; my surgeon has even submitted a grievance, but it's not going anywhere.
I just want to be in the right body already! I want to swim and run and dance in the right body, I want my ribs and shoulders to be free from the squeeze of my binder. I want to never look at that thing again. I want to wear the clothes I have for my post-op chest, the ones that have been tucked under my bed, lying in wait for months now. And I want to be able to move forward in my life, without the pain and anxiety my dysphoria brings me.
