Anna, lovingly known as Grandma, has always shared a special bond with her dog, Shadow. Shadow wasn’t just a pet—he was a true hero and companion. He taught himself to wake Anna up when her oxygen was low, brought her oxygen cords when she struggled to breathe, and even cushioned her falls to keep her safe. Shadow’s gentle spirit and devotion made him a miracle in Anna’s life, and he was loved by everyone who knew him, especially the children who grew up alongside him.
Recently, Shadow became suddenly and seriously ill from a bacterial infection, likely contracted from contaminated water. Despite Anna’s dedication to his regular vet care and vaccinations, his condition worsened rapidly, and his kidneys and liver began to fail. The emergency vet team did everything they could, but ultimately, Shadow had to be put to rest to end his suffering. The costs for his care, euthanasia, and cremation have been overwhelming, and Nicole had to take out a credit line to cover the expenses.
Anna, who is 75, oxygen-dependent, and immune compromised, now faces additional challenges. Shadow’s illness contaminated her bedding and parts of her home, making it unsafe for her to return until everything is thoroughly cleaned and replaced. The funds raised will help pay back the emergency vet and cremation costs, purchase a new mattress, bedding, and pillows for Anna, and hire help for deep cleaning her home to ensure it is safe for her return.
Nicole and her family are deeply grateful for any support during this difficult time. There are no words to express how much it would mean to bring Shadow’s ashes home, help Anna with her bills, and provide her with a safe, clean place to rest. Any help will bring comfort, safety, and peace of mind to Anna and her family, and warm the hearts of everyone who loved Shadow.
