Help Anna Rebuild and Replace
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Anna, and I am a retiree living in Estero, Florida.
On September 28th, 2022, Hurricane Ian devastated my area. Around 2 pm, the storm surge collided with high tide, and my home began to fill with water. When it reached about 2 feet deep inside my home, my friend, with her dog and me, with my two cats, attempted to leave for higher ground.
Once outside, the water rushed through the street like a rapidly flowing river. Thankfully a neighbor with a two-story home was watching everything unfold outside and ran through the water to our rescue. We waited out the rest of the day and night on their second floor, watching the water rise and rise at my home. At its peak, the water reached 4 feet inside and out.
I am so very thankful to be alive, still have my kitties, Bobo and Joey, and for my home to be still standing. While I have much to be grateful for, I am now tasked with rebuilding all I had worked for when I thought I would be enjoying my retirement years. The floodwater not only ruined much of my life's mementos, photos, keepsakes, furniture, appliances, and truck, but the entire house must be reconstructed inside with new walls, floors, cabinets, mold treatment, a/c, plumbing, water heater, roof repair, etc. It has become a very long list of repairs needed, and it will be a long time and very expensive before it becomes habitable again.
Donations will be used to help begin the rebuilding process of my life by obtaining a car, living arrangements, construction costs and replacement items not covered by insurance.
Thank you,
Anna
