Hey!
May 18th I went into the ER because I was vomiting, experiencing severe cramping in my abdomen, having fevers of 103, dizzy, and could barely move without pain. They decided to perform a laparoscopy but I coded on the operation table before they could do so. After reviving me, they cut a 6.5 inch incision and 2 liters of infectious liquid pooled out of my abdomen. They determined the heart attack was due to septic shock. I had a rare bacterial infection in my uterus that spread throughout my abdomen and was in the hospital for 15 days in the ICU and medical surgery unit. I was intubated and lost 4-5 days of memory because I was sedated with heavy pain medications. While in the hospital, the infection was constantly draining from JP drains in my sides and another liter of fluid collected in my chest cavity that had to be vacuumed out with a catheter. My muscles atrophied and I lost 20 pounds during that 15 days. I was not able to work for a month and a half and now have $10,000 of medical bills that I literally cannot afford and am worried about paying tuition and rent in the future. I appreciate every donation or kind word and am so glad that I am still alive! I cannot wait to continue my education and research (in environmental entomology/wildlife conservation at BYU) and hope to make a difference in this world with the life I have been given. Thank you for your time and support.
