September 2026: three surgeries, and rehabilitation continues

Anna has shared a new update after three surgeries following her serious cycling accident in Italy. She is now at the Swiss Paraplegic Centre in Nottwil, gradually returning to rehabilitation and working with her physiotherapists.

In her words: “Before the accident, I fought for seconds and results. Now I fight for every small step forward.”

Anna Kolyzhuk is a 22-year-old Ukrainian road and track cyclist. Before the accident, she competed internationally with the WCC Team. In 2022, she won a silver medal at the UCI Junior Track World Championships.

On 22 July 2026, Anna sustained a serious spinal injury in a crash during a race in Fiorenzuola d’Arda, Italy. She underwent surgery in Parma and was later transferred to Switzerland. In her update of 13 September, she explains that she has now undergone three surgeries in total and is slowly returning to rehabilitation. She also says that she does not yet know exactly what her recovery will look like.

What this fundraiser is for

The purpose of this fundraiser is to help Anna with her recovery and everyday independence. Donations are intended for medical, rehabilitation, equipment, accessibility, transport and personal-assistance needs that are not covered by insurance or other support.

Our fundraising goal is CHF100,000. This is a fundraising target, not a confirmed medical bill. A detailed breakdown of costs, insurance coverage and the use of donations is not yet available for this update. We will publish that information as it is confirmed, so supporters can understand which needs their contributions are helping to meet.

I am Matvii Ushakov, Anna’s friend and fellow cyclist, and I organise this fundraiser with her written permission. Anna is the named beneficiary on GoFundMe. We share medical information with her approval and do not make promises about the outcome of her recovery.
