Living with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, ADHD, OCD, anxiety, and depression is a daily challenge that can feel overwhelming and isolating. Recently, I experienced the heartbreak of losing my puppy to an unexpected illness, after spending the last of my savings trying to save him. The loss has been incredibly hard, both emotionally and financially, but it has also made me realize just how much a service dog could help me manage my conditions and regain some stability in my life.
A service dog would be more than just a companion—it would be a lifeline. With the right training, a service dog can help me cope with hallucinations, remind me to take my medication, provide comforting pressure during panic attacks, and know how to ground me when I’m experiencing an episode. These are not just small comforts; they are essential supports that could help me live more independently and with greater peace of mind.
Having the support of my community would mean the world to me. My disability often leaves me feeling alone, but knowing that others care enough to help would give me hope and strength. There’s no cure for what I live with, but with the right support and the companionship of a service dog, I believe I can manage my illness and build a brighter, more stable future. Any help you can give would bring me closer to making this dream a reality.
