chào cả nhà, my name is vee bui and im fundraising for my mom, Anna Pham, to complete necessary surgery in Vietnam.

my mom has been in severe pain for the last half of 2025. we suspected she had a herniated disc in her lower spine, as one of her legs was going numb. due to long waits in the canadian healthcare system, she flew to Vietnam to get diagnosed and treated. (by the time she had seen a doctor and had a surgery scheduled, the xray she took in canada before she left was finally received by her doctor back home.) in this time, she has done a full health assessment and it was discovered that she required an additional surgery after the first one was completed.

while processes in the Vietnamese healthcare system are much more expedient, they also require payment (albiet still cheaper than private healthcare in canada). given the nature of my moms health condition, having her wait in line in the canadian system is not an option (even if she were to be fast tracked, the wait is still too long).

given that i am currently on income assistance and fighting the insurance company that cut me off long term disability, i am in no position to support my mom financially. my older brother was able to fund my moms first surgery, but now we need support funding the second.

our goal is to raise $8888 overall, which would include the surgery and aftercare, as well as budget for worst case scenarios. (8 is a lucky number in our culture.)
