My name is Anna, and I’m sharing my story with hope, vulnerability, and a deep dream that has stayed with me for many years — the dream of becoming a mother. Before getting married, I made it clear to my future husband how important it was for me to have children. He told me he wanted the same. He already had a son, and I believed we were building a future together that included a family of our own. During our 7 years of marriage, we always used protection, and every time I tried to bring up the topic of having children, the conversation was avoided. After 7.5 years, I discovered something that changed my life completely — my husband had a vasectomy, which he had done 10 years before our marriage, right after his son was born. I had never been told. That moment was devastating. It took me a long time to process the betrayal and recover emotionally after the divorce. After that, I didn’t give up on my dream. For the past 5 years, I have been trying to become a mother through IUI and IVF. These procedures are very expensive, and I have only been able to afford 1–2 attempts per year. Time has been working against me, and now I am 44. Most clinics perform IVF only until age 45. I am so close, yet still need help. The program that gives me the best chance to finally bring home a baby is out of reach financially — something I cannot manage on my own.
