Anna Amrhein, our 45 year old, baby sister, wife of Ron, and loving mother of 6 children: Connor (17), Luke (13), Peter (12), Joelle (8), Selah (6), Esther (2) was diagnosed with breast cancer. This came as a total shock to our entire family.  On Friday December 23rd, she was given the following diagnosis:  Stage 3 invasive ductal breast cancer, type HER2. Anyone who has met Anna knows that she is full of kindness, generosity, goodness, love and faith.

She works as a Board Certified Behavioral Analyst working with Autistic children.  On top of everything else on their plate, she and Ron homeschool their children together.  Her employer has suggested that she goes on disability as soon as her chemotherapy starts on January 6th.  We have found out that disability will not even come close to the income she normally earns in a month.  Because of the financial burden of medical bills and daily living expenses, Anna has expressed, “…facing the financial adversity is probably my biggest fear yet to conquer.” 

She will be getting 6 treatments of chemotherapy every 3 weeks, then a mastectomy following the chemotherapy.  In addition, she will be receiving radiation and then reconstruction.  She has been told by the doctors that this process will take up to one year.  We would love to have our sister be focusing on getting better rather than focusing on how the bills are getting paid.
