Help Anna After the Heartbreaking Loss of Her Son to Cancer

In Loving Memory of Patryk
April 9, 2000 – April 2, 2025

Our hearts are broken beyond words. My sister Anna is living every mother’s worst nightmare — she lost her son just days before what would have been his 25th birthday. No mother should ever have to endure what she is living through now.

Patryk was a free spirit. He started riding motorcycles at just five years old. The open road was his second home. The hum of the engine, the wind in his face — that was where he found peace, where he felt most alive. Riding wasn’t just a passion; it was a reflection of who he was: wild at heart, full of purpose, and endlessly brave.

He was also kind, brilliant, hardworking, and full of light. Diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma in 2021, Patryk endured every challenge with unimaginable strength. He fought through intense treatments and even the loss of part of his arm. When his scans came back clear in late 2022, we believed — we hoped — the worst was behind him.

But in July 2024, the cancer returned — more aggressive than ever, this time in his shoulder and lungs. Even then, doctors remained hopeful, reassuring us that it was under control. So in January, Patryk flew to Germany for a short visit to see his father and girlfriend — a brief escape between chemo sessions, a chance to feel normal again.

No one could have imagined it would be his final journey.

Just two days before his flight back to Canada, he was rushed to the hospital with fluid in his lungs. Six liters were drained, but his condition worsened. Emergency surgery revealed the devastating truth: the cancer had spread too far and had become resistant to treatment. His body, after fighting so long and so hard, was too weak to go on.

We flew to Germany to say our final goodbyes — something no family should ever have to do.

Patryk passed away on April 2nd. He was supposed to get engaged this month. Instead of celebrating his future, we are now preparing to lay him to rest in Poland, the country where he grew up — just as he wished.

Patryk may have lost his battle with cancer, but he won the hearts of everyone around him. He was studying to become an electrician, loved fixing motorcycles and cars, and brought joy and meaning to everyone lucky enough to know him. We’ll remember him in every sunset ride, every engine’s roar, every wide-open stretch of road.

Though his road ended too soon, his spirit rides on — Ride in peace, Patryk. You’re free now.

Anna is devastated. She, her daughter, his dad and his girlfriend were by Patryk’s side in his final days, and now they face overwhelming travel and burial costs, while carrying a grief no parent should ever have to bear. She works two jobs and doing everything she can to support her family in Canada. But right now, she needs help.

Please, if you’re able, consider supporting Anna during this unimaginable time. Every donation, no matter how small, will help ease the weight of this tragedy. And if you can’t give, sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to us.

Thank you for reading, for caring, and for holding Anna, Patryk and his family in your heart. ❤️
