My wife Ann Guenther has been living with early onset dementia, and every day brings new challenges for both of us. Ann now needs daily care and help with personal tasks, moving around our condominium, and communicating. As her condition has evolved, I’ve become her full-time caregiver. About three years ago, I lost my job as an architect because Ann’s care needs made it impossible to keep up with work demands. Since then, we’ve relied on my savings to get by. We managed to pay off our mortgage, but the HOA dues and special assessments have been overwhelming. Despite my best efforts, we fell behind, and now the HOA has filed a suit to foreclose on our home. There’s a hearing scheduled for October 20th, and we’re at risk of losing the place where Ann feels safest and happiest.

Ann finds comfort in our home, spending time with our two cats and tending to flowers near our condo. She enjoys visits from her closest friend, and these moments bring her joy even as her condition progresses. I am actively looking for remote work as an architect, but right now, our most urgent need is to resolve the HOA situation so we can stay in our home. I’m also hoping to secure funds for Ann’s ongoing dementia care and her regular medical needs, especially since she is still two years away from qualifying for Medicare.

I love Ann with all of my heart, and I promised her that in our wedding vows 35 years ago. Your support will help us keep our home and provide Ann with the care she needs. Thank you for reading our story and considering a donation to help us through this difficult time.
