Help Anita in Nepal get a New Kitchen

Meet Anita. Anita is one of the most amazing people I have ever met. Some of you who have visited us here in Kathmandu know Anita well. She has been working as a housemaid at the house where Alex and I live in Kathmandu for now nearly 8 years. Friends who have stayed with us describe how touched they feel by her sincerity, her warmth, her affection, her lightheartedness! And her incredible loyalty to those around her.

Anita is married to Kumar and together they have two children, Prechhya and Prabin. From not having had much of a financially strong base, Anita and Kumar always prioritised their children's education, and today Prabin - their youngest - is doing his Bachelors in Boston, USA and Prechhya is finishing her MA in tourism and marketing in Kathmandu in about a year's time. 

What is more. Anita, Kumar, Prechhya - and now also Anita's mother and Kumar's mother from the mountain regions have come down to the city - are now all living under one tiny roof! Their house is the size of a studio apartment and they are cooking, sleeping, watching TV and studying - 5 people  - all in the same, tiny little space. Most of us could probably not even do this for a day! With our parents and in-laws on top of it..
 
Anita's house can be described as a one-room studio apartment, with an outdoor bathroom attached. Anita's big dream - which she has been speaking of for a while now - and which is hard for her to realise on her own - is to make an extension to their house in which they can build a new kitchen, and in this way they are able to open up their living room and have much more space for everyone (also for the two grandmothers that have just moved in!). This seems like such a simple thing, but the finances are not there and Anita and Kumar have taken a loan so that their son can study in the States and have a good education and they are both working hard in order to provide safety and comfort for everyone around them.

Therefore, with very little - and with the help of everyone of you out there - we are able to help Anita make her dream come true! With the amount of 5,000 USD it is possible to  reach very far in Nepal. And it will be possible for the family to live much more comfortably.

- There are so many charity projects out there for so many noble causes, but here is one, which can benefit one single family in Nepal tremendously.

I pray with all of my heart that we can help Anita's family get enough funds in order to build a new kitchen, and thereby help create a much better future for everyone. I hope you will help me in this pledge!
