Help Anita fight brain cancer

Myself (Katie Holt), my brother Dustin Holt and our stepbrother Riley Rasmusson (Anita's son) are here to raise money for our stepmother and mother Anita Biernat Holt.

On Tuesday November 8th Anita woke up and was not feeling/acting her normal energetic and happy self. My father (Jim Holt) had called her in sick to work and thought she was going to go back to bed to rest. Later on she drove to work where they realized something was seriously wrong. Her work talked to my father and called 911 to rush her to the hospital. At the hospital they did assessments and scans to figure out what was wrong. Once getting the scans back we got the horrible news that she had a large brain tumor on the right side of her brain. This was a shock to all of us since she has always been very healthy and took care of herself. After assessing the scans the doctors found it to be a very aggressive tumor. They wanted to do surgery as soon as possible. The next couple of days consisted of more scans and trying to decrease the cranial pressure. It was determined the tumor had roots growing off of it and a secondary inoperable tumor. On Thursday November 10th they brought her in for surgery. They were able to remove the primary tumor but were unable to get the roots or secondary tumor. Once getting the pathology report, the tumor was determined to be a Glioblasoma brain tumor. This is a very aggressive cancer that will continue to grow back.

Anita is currently doing about 2 weeks of physical, occupational and speech therapy. Due to the size and type of tumor it has effected some of her emotional and functional abilities. Once she has healed from surgery, she will be undergoing radiation therapy and chemotherapy. Anita will also have to go in for a MRI every 3 months to assess the progression of the Glioblasoma.

Anita and my father are both school bus drivers for Kottkes' Bus Company and love what they do. She has recieved so many letters from kids on her bus wishing her the best and hope for her return. With this unfortunate event she will not be able to work anymore. My father also has not been able to work since this occurred and may not return to work due to health issues of his own, adding to the financial misfortune.

If you know Anita, you know she is always thinking of others before herself. She cares so much and does whatever is needed to make sure you are doing okay. I personally love her for being there to talk to me whenever I need it, for taking care of my father and making sure he stays healthy for us.

We are requesting your support to alleviate the financial burden of this sudden and immediate tragedy brought upon our family.
