Hi everyone, my name is Anielya, and I am a Master's student at Florida State University, studying Voice Performance. In Fall 2025 I will be pursuing another Master's degree in Arts Administration. As for this summer, I will be attending two Young Artist Music Programs! In June, I will be participating in the Singing Down the Barriers Workshop at the University of Michigan, and in July I will be in Japan for the Tokyo International Vocal Arts Academy!!

I am so excited and fortunate to have been accepted into both of these programs. Singing Down the Barriers is a 2-week intensive exploration of the repertoire of African American, African, and African Diaspora concert composers for people from various musical backgrounds. The first week is online and the second is hosted at the University of Michigan's campus. The institute offers an approach to performance that is designed to provide a historical perspective along with discussions to examine our contemporary attitudes toward performing/understanding this music. Throughout the program, there will be informational sessions, private voice lessons/coachings, masterclasses, and concert opportunities.

Regarding the Tokyo International Vocal Arts Program, I will be abroad for 3 weeks. It is a program devoted to cultivating the next generation of operatic talent. The academy offers expert coaching and masterclasses led by internationally renowned mentors, ensuring personalized attention and artistic development. The program includes daily voice lessons, private vocal coachings, performances in the opera scene concert and closing concert, masterclass performances, and the gala dinner. I will also be singing the role of Ciesca in Gianni Schicci.
