Help Angie Scott With Wheelchair Parts
Donation protected
Angie is my former neighbor. She was involved in a car accident a little over a decade ago and went from preparing to take over a supervisor role in a warehouse to being confined to a wheelchair as a paraplegic. But that hasn't stopped her from living independently, creating enormous amounts of incredible artwork, and crocheting clothes and toys for every new neighbor she encounters in her neighborhood (and she also crochets hats for newborns in hospitals-at least pre-pandemic). What IS stopping Angie, however, is the health system in place that will not fund two parts of her wheelchair that she needs to reach items in her home, get into bed, and more easily maneuver around her home because they are not deemed "medically necessary." The lift and stand features have been quoted by the vendors at $12000 alone. It sounds outrageous because it is. Insurance will not cover these parts. Because Angie has helped so many people, I am hoping we can help her. Typically she finds ways to make repairs on her own (she has helped me repair my washing machine when maintenance couldn't as well as my vacuum cleaner). But because her old wheelchair was over 11 years old, she had to get a brand new one. While the wheelchair itself is covered by insurance, she still needs these features. No one should have to struggle anymore than they already do because of money. Please help me help Angie. If more than $12,000 is raised, the remainder will go towards helping her repair her wheel chair accessible van which also currently needs a new ramp.
As a thank you, Angie has crocheted special thank you gifts especially for you! (Please send me a message on how to best get the gift to you)
