Help Save Angie: A Rescue Bunny in Need of Surgery
Hi, my name is Gracie, and I’m a preschool teacher with a deep love for animals. Over the years, I’ve rescued and cared for many animals in need (fish, turtle, chicken, bunny, guinea pig), and it’s always been my passion to give them a safe, loving home.
Three weeks ago, I rescued a sweet bunny, Angie, who had been living in a small, uncovered outdoor cage. She was being fed an improper diet of meat, mushrooms, and banana peels, which left her very underweight and malnourished. When I brought her into my home, I immediately began giving her proper food and care, allowing her to gain some much-needed weight and strength.
Once Angie was feeling a little better, I took her to the vet for a full check-up and to schedule a spay surgery. During her exam at the Exotic Pet Clinic in Santa Cruz, Dr. Stern discovered a tumor under her right side nipple. The vet recommended removing the tumor while performing her spay surgery to prevent it from spreading.
I was devastated by the news, as I hadn’t expected to hear about a tumor. And while I had planned for her surgery today, I found out that her pet insurance doesn’t begin until May 1, 2025. Since the tumor was discovered before her insurance kicks in, it will be considered a pre-existing condition and won’t be covered by the insurance.
As a preschool teacher living in the Bay Area, it’s incredibly difficult to afford such a high bill, especially for unexpected medical expenses like this. But I don’t want to give up on Angie, and I’ve decided to start this GoFundMe to help raise the funds needed for her surgery.
I’ve scheduled the surgery for Thursday, and I want to move quickly to prevent the tumor from growing or becoming life-threatening.
If you are able to donate or even just share her story, it would mean the world to me and to Angie. Thank you for helping me give her the medical care she deserves and for supporting her recovery.
