My name is Angie, and I am a single mother who has always tried to keep those around me smiling, even when my own world feels like it's crumbling. Since 2023, I have been fighting a series of serious health problems, starting with cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure. Over time, I was also diagnosed with POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome), which causes me to pass out unexpectedly—sometimes outside my home, at stores, or even at the doctor’s office. The heat makes my symptoms worse, and my heart struggles to keep up. I also have mitral and pulmonary valve regurgitation, breathing problems, and severe fatigue that now requires me to use oxygen. The chest pain and shortness of breath are constant companions, and I have lost count of the times I’ve been rushed to the hospital by ambulance.

Despite my doctors urging me to be homebound for my safety and the safety of others, I have continued to work because I am the sole provider for my children. Unfortunately, I was denied disability due to my age, even though all my doctors agree I need to be homebound. I am now working with a disability attorney to fight my case, but the process takes time. In the meantime, I am doing everything I can to keep a roof over our heads and provide for my children, even as my health makes it harder every day.

The funds from this fundraiser will help me pay my bills and stay in my home while my attorney fights my disability case. Being able to remain homebound will keep me and those around me safe, as my condition makes me a liability when I pass out unexpectedly.
