Help Angie Save the Forgotten Dogs of Cyprus

Hi, my name is Kaja, and I’m writing this on behalf of an incredible woman named Angie. She is the founder of Cyprus Canine Castaways, which is based on the outskirts of Avgorou, a peaceful village just 20 minutes from Ayia Napa, Cyprus.

I visited Angie in January, and what I witnessed has never left me.

Angie is caring for over 60 dogs entirely on her own. These are not just any dogs—they are victims, abandoned, abused, and neglected by people who were supposed to protect them. When one is rehomed, five more abused dogs take its place. It’s relentless, never-ending, and Angie never says no because she knows no one else will step up.

The Situation

Angie’s life revolves around saving animals — but now she needs saving too.

* She works **18-hour days**

* She gets **barely any sleep**

* She has **no volunteers** to help her feed, walk, clean, or care for the dogs

* And she works a full-time job on top of all of this because donations are so sparse, she simply has no choice

There is over €2,300 in unpaid vet bills right now. She’s stretched past breaking point. But still, she shows up — every single day — because the dogs have no one else.

This is not a big rescue centre with paid staff. This is one woman doing the work of many, simply because it’s the right thing to do.

Why This Matters

Angie isn’t asking for praise. She doesn’t feel entitled.

**All she wants is help.**

Because **humans did this to these animals**.

And yet, so few are willing to help fix it.

I help with social media from the UK, but it’s incredibly hard to support the rescue from a distance when Angie is being pulled in every direction. She doesn’t even have time to breathe, let alone fundraise.
