Help Angie Riebe get back on two feet

Hi! This is Heather and Katelyn and we are fundraising for our close friend and beloved Mesabi Tribune writer Angie Riebe.

Angie took a bad tumble on Halloween evening on her way to grab something out of her car. She fell down several outside concrete steps, resulting in a broken leg/ankle on one side and a severely sprained ankle on the other. (As an overachiever, she apparently wanted to make sure both legs were injured!) ;)

Her right leg/ankle is broken in three places. It had been severely dislocated in the accident. She had surgery Nov. 1 at Essentia-St. Mary’s in Duluth. It required extensive repair and she had several plates and screws installed, which will most likely be setting off metal detectors from now on!

Angie is unable to put any weight on the broken leg for at least 8 weeks, and has been hobbling/hopping/shuffling on her sprained left ankle with assistance of a walker, which has been rather painful. She has been receiving care and therapy at Guardian Angels assisted living in Hibbing.

Recovery will extend beyond the 8 weeks of non-weight bearing, with only partial weight eventually allowed on the right leg/foot until the fractures are more healed, which will probably be several additional months.

Angie will be out of work for an undetermined length of time. Funds raised will be used to help pay medical expenses not covered by insurance and general living expenses.

Any little bit helps. If you can’t donate at this time please share this page.
