Support Angie Hallett’s Fight Against Stage IV Lung Cancer
For the past several months, Angie has been experiencing severe head, neck and back pain. She had been seeking help from her doctor, chiropractor and a physical therapist, all to no avail. After multiple consultations and examinations, she was finally scheduled to have a MRI scan. The evening before the scan was to be done, Angie woke up with excruciating pain throughout her neck and head that led to a trip to the Emergency Room. A full body CT scan was performed on her that evening and a mass was discovered in one of her lungs, along with fractures in her spine and bone degradation.
Due to the state of her spine, Angie was placed in a full upper body brace that supports her cranium and most of her spine. A biopsy was performed on the mass in her lung, followed by a PET scan, and the results were devastating. Angie was diagnosed with Stage IV Non-Small Cell Adenocarcinoma.
While the news was not what anyone wanted to hear, there was still some positive news. The specific genetic marker and mutation that her cancer presents with allows for more treatment options. Therefore, chemotherapy will not have to be the first line of treatment. Instead, Angie will be starting a targeted therapy pill that is designed to slow the growth of the cancer. Along with this therapy, she will be undergoing multiple radiation treatments and a monthly infusion that will help strengthen her bones. All of these treatments will no doubt be a strain on the family’s finances.
Angie is a humble, bright and cheerful light to everyone in her life. We know this news is difficult for her and her family, not only emotionally, but financially as well. Her friends and coworkers are seeking to raise $10,000 to assist in medical expenses throughout this process. With your help, we can hopefully ease her and her family’s minds, and allow them to keep their focus primarily on healing and recovery. While the diagnosis is bleak, she along with her family and team of extraordinary doctors will fight on with nothing but a positive attitude about the future.
Please share Angie’s story with your friends and family and keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Any donations, big or small would be helpful in so many ways. Angie and her family couldn’t be more appreciative of all of the love and support they are receiving.
