On Thursday, June 13, 2019, Angie Blackwell arrived home and was greeted by her beloved dachshund, Blaze, as usual. Moments after walking in the door Angie heard a loud “pop” from her bedroom. As she approached the bedroom door, she was terrified to see the wall behind her bed engulfed in flames. She immediately got Blaze out of the house before attempting to smother the flames with her comforter. Angie quickly realized that the fire was progressing too rapidly, and she was left with no time to even grab her car keys before evacuating the house to safety.Fortunately, both Angie and Blaze escaped the fire unharmed. Firefighters were able to keep the fire from reaching her car, but it still sustained some damage due to the rapid acceleration and intense heat of the flames. In the days since the fire, Angie’s family and friends went back to the site of her home and recovered two pairs of shoes and her mother’s pearl earrings. Everything else on the property (furniture, clothing, jewelry, electronics, appliances, pet supplies, lawn equipment, etc.) is a total loss.
Angie must now start the process of rebuilding her life, and she needs your help. The home was a rental property, and her renter’s insurance is not nearly enough to replace what was lost. She is currently staying with family until she is able to find another place to call home. Any monetary donation you can give to help her start again would be greatly appreciated.
