Help Angie & Baby cover expenses for loss of Dion

Hi, my name is Abby. I am Angie's best friend and sister in Christ. Thank you ahead of time for taking the time to read this and I pray that you would be touched by their story and help Angie and her baby during these difficult times.

Angie and Dion Fatafehi met 17 years ago and their biggest wish was to start a family. In September 2022, they found out that their prayer had been answered and they were expecting their first child. They had planned to officially live full-time in Kent, Washington, to raise their baby. The following month, Dion began to experience excruciating pain in his lower back and legs and went to the ER.

On October 2022, Dion was diagnosed with stage four bone cancer. He gave the biggest fight of his life to live and meet his baby. In December, they also found out the baby's gender, they were expecting a boy, Christopher Emmanuel Dion. Dion was hospitalized at the UCLA Hospital for treatment and then continued to receive chemo as an outpatient. Their plans for preparing for the baby were placed on hold as they soon began to incur medical expenses since most of the treatments were not fully covered by insurance and had to be paid out of pocket.

Angie looked for all medical treatments that could help and he was accepted at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Angie and Dion made the agonizing trip from Los Angeles to Houston and relocate there to begin a new treatment in March. Dion's health began to decline rapidly and was hospitalized the day after arriving in Houston. They were going to fight this cancer with everything they had. Dion had an infectious smile. He continued to smile even through his pain and chemo treatments. They fought so hard for their little family. Angie stayed with him at the hospital while pregnant. She continued to stay strong for her husband and for the baby she was carrying.

In April, doctors notified Angie that Dion would be moved to hospice as the continuation of chemo would shorten his lifespan. This battle against time was heart-wrenching. His wish was to meet his son. Angie continued to care for him and stay overnight in a chair and cot while heavily pregnant and never gave up on him. Dion won his battle and went to rest with the Lord on Thursday, May 18, 2023. Dion gave the biggest fight of his life and passed away surrounded by his loving wife, parents, father and mother-in-law, and sister-in-law. The following Tuesday, May 23, 2023, Angie gave birth to their son, Christopher Emmanuel Dion Fatafehi.

On the day of Christopher's birth, Angie experienced two seizures and was placed in ICU for observation. The baby is a healthy and strong boy who already has been through so much. Her family has surrounded her during these days of recovery and mourning. They have been hard. And they have been dark. And yet, we hold on to our faith, that we will reunite with Dion one day. We cherish the bright and beautiful moments with the baby. We are thankful to God for this new life as well. Angie has incurred substantial debt in medical expenses and relocation expenses. She is also facing the expenses of funeral costs and everything it entails. We are trying to help them return to California to be surrounded by family and those who loved and knew Dion.

Dion touched the lives of so many people at a personal level and even through charities. Myself included. He was a generous man with a loving heart. He is greatly missed. I ask that you kindly assist her with these expenses as she is navigating the loss of her husband and the new experience of motherhood. Navigating life without her beloved husband is hard enough already. Please help us ease the financial burden off her shoulders. Thank you once again for taking the time to read and I pray your heart is touched by their story.

James 1:27 - "Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world."
