My name is Kate and I'm raising money to help my dear friend in Bali, Indonesia, Angga. I met Angga on a group travel trip, he was my tour guide, and soon turned close friend. He shared with me his culture, his family and his beliefs, and at the time I needed that restoration in humanity, that people are still in fact just truly good, to the core. Since then we have remained in touch, checking in with one another two to three times a month.
When the pandemic hit I reached out to Angga worried knowing that most of his country thrived off of some sort of tourism for work and in turn, a life, including himself. Bali closed it's borders almost immediately, no one in, no one out. He was telling me how scared he was getting rationing food for his children and desperately looking for work. He had sold his family's scooter ( the main method of transportation in Bali) just to get themselves some cash to get by for a while trying to figure something out. Thus decreasing his access to work.
At the time we had just received our first stimulus check and I decided he deserved it more than me and figured out how to Western Union him the money......that man sent me pictures of absolutely anything and everything he bought with it to feed his family, his village, and babies, making sure I knew the money was being put to good use.
A year later and Bali was just put back in the Red Zone, no tourism allowed. Over the last year Angga has slaved away at construction just getting by. He recently came into the opportunity to take over a pig farm in his village but is waiting on a loan from the bank. The loan is for 10 Million Rupiah , just under 700 US dollars. This will help him get started as well as start a new life for him and his family and hopefully grow his small business.
If you've read this far I appreciate you so much. I promise anything you can afford wether it be just to share this or a small donation, our dollar goes a very long way.
Every year Angga and his family call me to sing Happy Birthday and this year ide like to tell them I have a gift for them.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
