Hi, I’m Sandra, a Jamaican who lives in the United States. I’m raising funds for my dear friend Angella, who lives just outside Montego Bay, Jamaica. Her home was badly damaged by Hurricane Melissa - the roof was partially ripped off in some areas, water leaked down the walls; doors and windows were destroyed; and trees fell everywhere, damaging walls and also making the road to her house impassable. The road has now been cleared, and she managed to put temporary tarps on parts of the roof; however, her situation is still quite precarious. Like thousands of Jamaicans who were directly in the hurricane's path, she is still without electricity and running water, and it is a daily struggle.

Angella has worked very hard her entire life. Those who know her know that she has always taken care of others and put others first. Even now, as she struggles to deal with the aftermath of this devastating storm, she is assisting an elderly, infirm person currently in her care, who she had to protect along with herself while the hurricane tore through the house.
