Hello, I come to you as a parent of a child with multiple chronic and critical illnesses. My 15-year-old daughter, Angelique, has been sick since she was 2 1/2 years old. It all started with critical platelet levels reoccurring monthly for over a year until her hematologist went on a hunch and tested her for Lupus. At 3 1/2, she was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. She has battled the disease ever since then.

But as of September of this year, she has been worse than she ever has been. She has had platelet levels as low as 1/1000 and quite possibly even 0. She has had multiple bleeding events and has been hospitalized 5 times within the last 2 months. That's not including treatment in the E.R. and outpatient infusions. We have been traveling to both the Children's Hospital of Colorado in Aurora and also to UNM Children's Hospital in Albuquerque.

I am a single mom to Angelique and her sister Gabriella, and I am the sole income in my household. Because of her needing so many emergency treatments and hospital stays, I have been missing a lot of work. This has become not only an emotional, physical, and spiritual drain on our family; it is now becoming a financial strain on us also. I am asking for help to keep our utilities paid, gas in our vehicle, and money for meals while we are not home.

We have dealt with this for 13 years, but this has by far been the worst flare she has ever had, and now doctors are seeing if she might possibly have an unknown autoimmune condition that is causing all of this. Anything will help us, so we can get her treatment and give her the support she needs. And if you cannot give monetarily, would you please pray or send good vibes our way?
