Hello to all your beautiful eyeballs, assuming you may know I’ve been dreaming to go to London to study at the University of arts in London for a very long time. Recently, I was granted the opportunity to do a semester away at the university of arts London that will take place in Autum 2024. I am beyond excited as this has been my dream school for many years.
For the past three years I’ve been a student at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago studying Photography, Critical Race theory, and Museum curation. These all come together in my most recent work with Freedom Square: Black Girlhood Altar on view at the Chicago Architectural Biennial at the Chicago Cultural Center. The heading image of this fundraiser is of myself and my wonderful mother at the opening of for mentioned exhibition opening. I will continue with these topics and making work akin to this in London. The courses in London I will be enrolling in will be focused on Curation and criticism as I am pursuing a career in Museum Curation.
With that being said dreams, never really account for the cost of living these days. I was informed by both universities that I would have to pay for my own accommodations and flights. To rent a room on the campus would be about $20,000 for the semester as flights are from the range of $1,500-$2,000. My goal is a bit higher than the total of these costs as I want to account for any additional expenses that can come from international travel, meals and any possible travel accidents.
I am always so grateful for your continued support in my education as I would’ve been able to make it this far with YOU! I am graciously asking for your continued support in actualizing my dream.
