Help Alfred’s Abandoned Cats Get a Second Chance
Donation protected
My name is Barrie Clark, and I am fundraising on behalf of Alfred TNR-Helping Feral Cats. My goal is to raise $500 for Alfred TNR which will allow them to help the two cats that were cruelly disposed of on AU Campus on Friday, August 23. These abandoned cats have secured a spot at Ten Lives Club Cat Rescue in Blasdell, NY. A donation/fee is required to vet, house, and adopt out these cats. Money is also needed for Alfred TNR to help two other abandoned cats who were cruelly deposited at a different colony in Alfred. Your donation will help give all of these beautiful felines an opportunity for a happy, healthy life. Any extra money raised will go to Alfred TNR’s much needed funding to feed and care for the three feral cat colonies in Alfred, NY.
Here are more details about this unfortunate situation:
On Friday, August 23, two beautiful, friendly cats were found abandoned at a feral cat colony site on campus. Two cats, two carriers, a bowl of food, and a litter box were discovered by one of the colony’s loyal feeders. These domesticated cats are friendly, affectionate felines, and are not equipped to survive outside in a cat colony.
So many people have been working together to help these cats. I am delighted to inform you that Ten Lives Club- a registered 501(c)(3) non-kill, non profit cat adoption group devoted to cats will take them in. They do however, charge a fee to cover the vetting cost that will be incurred by them. Alfred TNR is not a rescue, so this takes enormous effort to help get cats placed.
There are also two other abandoned cats who recently showed up at another colony in Alfred. Although a rescue hasn’t been secured for Percy and kitten, Alfred TNR is working on that, and is hopeful a local rescue will accept them, especially if money is raised to help pay for their vetting costs.
I am proud of Alfred TNR-Helping Feral Cats Organization, and the work they do. They are a network of kind helpers in the Alfred community who dedicate their time and money to help trap, neuter, vaccinate, return, feed, and care for Alfred’s abandoned cats. They have spayed/neutered/vaccinated/ returned 165 Alfred cats since 2016, and manage three different colonies. Their work helps to keep the cat population in the Village of Alfred under control as well. Our community is fortunate to have this organization.
One last piece of good news…the cats abandoned on campus are both safe, warm, with full bellies tonight. They are being housed by an Alfred TNR volunteer until September 10, when they will be transferred to Ten Lives Club Rescue.
