I’m honored to share that I’ve been accepted into the New York Academy of Art’s prestigious Summer Undergraduate Residency Program (SURP). This month-long residency in New York City is designed for dedicated undergraduate students and recent graduates eager to push the boundaries of their technical and conceptual practice. As a SURP participant, I’ll immerse myself in intensive courses focused on painting, drawing, and contemporary figuration, while engaging with the vibrant New York art scene through studio visits and exhibitions. The curriculum includes five specialized courses exploring techniques in painting, anatomy, and visual storytelling, all designed to prepare students for entry into an MFA program.
To fully participate, I’ll need to bring a range of art supplies for my painting classes, including a palette, palette knife, canvas and panel supports, brushes, oil paints, sketchbooks, drawing tools, and other essentials. In addition to tuition, I’ll also need to cover housing in New York City, travel expenses, and daily living costs. The supply list alone is extensive, and your support will help ensure I have everything required to make the most of this opportunity.
My long-term goal is to become a fine arts professor, fostering the same spirit of mentorship and collaboration that has inspired me at the University of North Florida. I’ve seen firsthand how meaningful guidance can spark transformation. Every contribution, no matter the size, will bring me closer to realizing my goals as both an artist and an educator. I’m deeply grateful to my friends, family, and everyone who believes in my journey. Your encouragement and generosity make it possible for me to pursue opportunities like this. Thank you for helping me take this next step toward becoming an artist and educator dedicated to inspiring the next generation.
