Hi everyone,

My name is Angelica Rivera, and I’m reaching out today to ask for your help as I pursue my dream of completing my education. As a proud Puerto Rican and a non-traditional student, my journey to higher education has been anything but easy. After many years of struggling to access educational opportunities, I was finally able to start my undergraduate studies at Widener University, where I’m majoring in Psychology and Gender & Women’s Studies, with a minor in International Relations.

I’ve worked incredibly hard to get this far, and I’m passionate about the issues I’m studying. My research focuses on the sociopolitical dynamics that shape how we navigate the world—especially in relation to space, identity, and violence. I’m particularly interested in exploring how poverty, gender, and power influence violence within communities, and how different forms of identity and relationship structures, like consensual non-monogamy in LGBTQ+ communities, challenge societal norms. I believe my work can make a difference in understanding and challenging some of the most pressing social issues of our time.

However, I’m now facing a critical financial barrier. In order to register for my final semester of classes, I need to bring my tuition down to an affordable level. I’ve explored all available options—scholarships, grants, and departmental funding—but I’m still facing a gap that I cannot cover on my own. This is why I’m turning to this community for support.
