Please Help Angelica and Her Family After a Devastating Loss

We are asking for help for our dear friend, Angelica Holmes, who is going through an incredibly heartbreaking and overwhelming situation after the theft and loss of the contents of two storage units containing her family’s belongings.

After Angelica’s mother passed away, Angelica placed many of her mother’s belongings into storage for safekeeping. Her mother had a beautiful, well-cared-for home, and many of her belongings were in excellent condition. Angelica planned to bring her mother’s furniture and other belongings with her when she moved her family into their new home.

Angelica and her family are currently preparing to move because their present home is too small for their family and has ongoing issues with basement flooding and mold. Because of these conditions, the basement was not a safe place to store furniture, mattresses, important documents, or sentimental family belongings. This is why so many of their possessions had to be kept in storage until the family could move into a larger and more suitable home.

The storage units also contained brand-new mattresses for her children that did not fit in their current home, along with furniture and other household items that were being saved specifically for their new home.

Angelica had been making her monthly storage payments through automatic payments from her bank account. There had also been a mix-up when the storage units were originally assigned. She had been offered two units for the price of one, which resulted in confusion regarding the unit numbers.

As Angelica prepares to move her family within the next few days, she went to the storage facility to retrieve their belongings. When she arrived, she made the devastating discovery that the contents of both storage units were gone.

The loss is enormous.

Among the belongings were her mother’s furniture, jewelry, family photographs, personal keepsakes, brand-new mattresses for her children, furniture for their new home, and extremely important documents, including Angelica’s high school diploma, her daughter’s high school diploma, birth certificates, Social Security cards, and other important family documents.

Most heartbreakingly, her father’s ashes were among the belongings that were taken.

So many of the items belonging to Angelica’s mother can never be replaced. They were not simply furniture or possessions. They were pieces of her mother’s life and memories of a parent who is no longer here. The family photographs, jewelry, keepsakes, and other sentimental belongings held a value that no amount of money could ever replace.

The loss of her father’s ashes makes this situation even more devastating.

These two storage units contained pieces of Angelica’s parents, her children’s lives, and years of family memories. While furniture, mattresses, and household necessities can eventually be purchased again, the sentimental belongings from her mother, family photographs, keepsakes, and her father’s ashes are irreplaceable.

A police report has been made regarding the theft, and Angelica plans to contact an attorney in the morning as she works to determine exactly what happened to the contents of both storage units and what options are available to her.

All of this is happening just as Angelica is preparing to move her family out of a home that is too small for them and has ongoing flooding and mold issues. What should have been an exciting fresh start for her family has instead become an unexpected financial and emotional crisis.

Instead of being able to move the furniture, mattresses, and household belongings she had carefully saved into their new home, Angelica is now facing the expense of replacing many of their basic necessities while also grieving the loss of family belongings that money simply cannot replace.

We are asking for donations to help Angelica and her family replace the children’s mattresses, furniture, essential documents, household necessities, moving expenses, and other immediate needs as they try to rebuild after this devastating theft.
