Hi, I’m Angelica Quiñonez, an Afro-Ecuadorian immigrant filmmaker. My short film Silent Witness is inspired by a moment that changed my life forever. Now in post-production, I need your help to bring it to the screen.

THE STORY

Silent Witness tells the story of Octavia, a pregnant Black woman brutally attacked in public, and Andrea, a 15-year-old girl frozen by fear as she watches. What follows is an unexpected encounter that forces them both to confront pain, guilt, and the quiet power of connection.

WHY THIS STORY

When I was 15, I witnessed a violent attack on a Black woman. That moment stayed with me, raising questions that still burn inside: Why do we stay silent? What does it cost us? Later that night, I saw her again. I helped. It wasn’t perfect, but it was honest. Silent Witness is my response; a story about fear, action, and finding the courage to speak up.

WHO I AM

As an Afro-Ecuadorian immigrant woman living in the U.S., I’ve felt the weight of silence, fear, and invisibility. This film isn’t fiction; it reflects what too many of us live through. Before exploring other genres, I had to start here, to name the violence, honor the resistance, and speak the truth. OUR GOAL: $5,000 We’re in the final stretch, post-production.
