UPDATE: From Valerie (Angela's Sister)

#ALiverforALovett

It has been a long time since we have reached out or updated. Things have been busy and chaotic. Angela’s health has declined even more, and we need your help. Angela was diagnosed almost a year ago with Non-Alcohol Related Cirrhosis of the Liver. Her liver is getting worse and has caused many severe health problems. Last month she underwent a procedure to stop internal bleeding. Her blood counts are extremely low, and she is at high risk for infections, internal bleeding or even bleeding out from a small cut. She is currently being treated by the Mayo Clinic’s liver team but as of yet she has not been listed on UNOS for a liver transplant. It will be a long road.

Angela can no longer work at all and is about to lose her health insurance. At this time, she has to go back and forth to Mayo Clinic every 4 to 6 weeks. The expenses and bills are racking up. Due to the severity of her illness, the health insurance issues, and the traveling involved, Angela and her family know that it is in her best interest to move closer to a good healthcare facility. She as well as her daughter and three grandchildren need to move to be closer to the Mayo Clinic or another great transplant hospital such as Mass General. Her choices are limited. Choosing to uproot her and her daughter's lives as well as the lives of her young grandchildren is not an easy one but sadly a necessary one. The cost of moving to another state is very high on top of all the health expenses and costs of traveling back and forth to the Mayo Clinic. Please help if you can!

ANGELA NEEDS OUR HELP!!! #ALiverforALovett

Angela is an amazingly strong woman who raised her two children on her own and now is helping her daughter raise her three children after tragically losing their father. Her daughter is also her caretaker, so Brittany is currently trying to raise three children, care for her mother, and work to support all of them. This is a heavy burden to carry for anyone but especially hard under these circumstances. Angela’s sudden illness toppled the stability of their lives.

All any of us want is to help Angela get the care she needs so she can survive and live a normal life again. As normal as possible because chronic illness changes lives forever. Not just the person suffering from the health condition but all the people around them that care for them every day. Angela’s life will never be the same but with your help we can ensure she has one! Please help us raise the money so Angela can continue getting the healthcare she needs and hopefully get a liver transplant soon.

PLEASE DONATE WHAT YOU CAN AND SHARE THIS LINK AS WIDELY AND AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE! ANY AMOUNT HELPS!

As some of you may already know but for those of you who don’t, my mom (Angela M. Lovett) is very ill and being evaluated for a Liver Transplant. She is very sick right now and cannot work. She will have to travel to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida for 2 weeks in September to be evaluated. We will have to stay in a hotel on the hospital campus for the entire 2 weeks going back and forth for testing multiple times a day. The cost of medical and travel for this trip alone is estimated to be over $6,000. Her healthcare and travel cost will continue to rise even beyond this trip. We are not sure how many trips back and forth to the Mayo Clinic she will need to make or what the final cost of all her medical expenses will be. We are hoping that some of our friends and family will be willing to help out with some of these expenses. We are only asking for the money for the first trip right now but after we know more we will update everyone and adjust the amount to reflect the entire need.

My mom is a very private person, and she really doesn’t like to ask for help from other people. She only agreed to let me reach out as a last resort. Anything at all that you can do would be helpful.

My mom is a mother of two (me and James) with four grandchildren (3 of which she is currently helping to raise) that she could not love more than she does. They are her whole world. My mom is my best friend and we all want/need her to get better. Mom was fine until about a year ago when she started to feel weak. At first she thought it was just her getting older, but her pain and weakness continued to progress. She was finally sadly diagnosed with non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. This took her and our entire family by surprise. Mom has been an active person who always enjoyed doing things with her entire family from watching movies to playing board games to family cookouts to taking trips to museums and other family outings. Her whole life has changed in the last few months. She has gone from an active person who enjoyed spending time doing all of these things and more to needing naps multiple times a day. She no longer can drive or even be alone for risk of falling and bleeding. She is so weak, and it is very hard to watch. We are hoping that with a liver transplant that my mom will get back to her old self and we will get to spend many more years making memories with her.

Please Help My Mom Get A Liver Transplant Evaluation. Any little bit helps! Thanks & Love from the Lovett Family!
