Please support Angela and show her how much we love her!
Angela was diagnosed with a precancerous tumor on her pancreas. On April 8th, Angela underwent surgery at the Mayo Clinic. Unforeseen complications occurred. Originally it was the portion of the pancreas to be removed. Along with that, they removed her gallbladder and spleen. Initially, Angela expected to be in the hospital for 4 days.
On April 13th, Angela continued to have severe nausea, vomiting, pain, and was unable to eat anything since surgery. They ran a battery of tests and found that her pancreas was leaking fluid into the abdomen and a blood clot in the major vein of her liver.
On April 14th, Angela required surgery to insert a drain into her abdomen to drain the extra fluid from her leaking pancreas. This fluid also cultured bacteria which means IV antibiotics to prevent sepsis.
She has a nasogastric tube to keep her stomach decompressed to help with the nausea and vomiting. Since she has not eaten for almost a week, Angela is very weak. In addition to these complications, Angela is also on blood thinners to help rid the blood clot in her liver.
Needless to say, these unforeseen complications will be hardship in terms of health and financial. The Mayo Clinic is not within network of Angela's health insurance, therefore Angela will bear much of the costs related to the extended stay and interventions.
Angela has been a nurse for over 30 years and has given compassionate care to all those that she has touched. It is time that we take care of our beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, wife, colleague....and the list goes on. Our goal is that Angela can get back home to heal and get back to being all those things and more without the financial stressors.
I want to thank everyone for all their well wishes, prayers, and contributions to our sweet, Angie!!
