First, I want to give thanks to the Creator for giving me the strength to heal, the courage to awaken, and the grace to keep going when I didn’t think I could. I’m also deeply grateful to the amazing doctors, nurses, and healing team who helped restore not just my health, but my hope. To my family, friends, and recovery community, thank you for standing by me with love, patience, and truth.

I know I’m still here not just to survive, but to fulfill what I came here to do: To love, to grow, and to serve.

It’s with deep humility that I share this dream and ask you to consider walking alongside me as I step into it.

My name is Angela Patton. I’m a mother, a grandmother, a psychology student, and a two-time President’s List honoree at Georgia State University. I’ve survived trauma, addiction, illness, and loss and I’ve spent the last few years turning that pain into purpose.

For over 40 years, I lived in the metro Atlanta area. I didn’t grow up traveling outside the U.S., and most of what I understood about the world came through the lens of American life. While my community was full of heart and perseverance, I never had the opportunity to immerse myself in different cultures firsthand.

But something changed. I made the brave decision to step outside of my comfort zone to move, to heal, to grow. I’ve done the inner work, and I continue doing it one day at a time.

And now, for the first time in my life, I’ve been given the chance to do something I never imagined possible:

To study abroad. In Portugal. With a passport that bears my name.

This is a dream I never thought would come true. And I’m asking for your support to help make it fully real.
