My name is Angela and my spouse and I have been victims of predatory lending.
We bought a vehicle 6 months ago from a certain used car service, and the car has had a major mechanical failure before 100 thousand miles. The retailer and the lienholder are unwilling to do anything for us, and we don’t have good enough credit to qualify for a loan due to the high debt-to-income ratio from this car loan.
The vehicle needs a timing chain at least, and I’m currently waiting on the official breakdown of cost, but I have been quoted $3500.
In addition to this, I have lost my Medicaid and access to therapy and medication for my health conditions. The stress is making my health worse. If we can get this vehicle repaired, that would go a long way towards my well-being.
We have intention to apply for SER through DHS to help cover the cost of repair, but it remains to be seen if we will qualify for any assistance. My spouse works full-time, and without this vehicle, we will lose our income and, by extension, our housing.
Please help us, this could mean losing everything we’ve worked for. I have 3 beautiful pets to care for as well as myself and my spouse.
Any additional contributions will go towards my very expensive medication.
Thank you.
