Help Angela rebuild her health!

Hi, our names are James & Miranda, and we are fundraising for Angela Cheng. We have known Angela for almost 20 years and have been donor partners with her ministry throughout this time. We had the joy of visiting her to see the work she was doing when she was serving in Thailand 11 years ago! We have set this fundraiser up to help her raise money that is needed for out-of-pocket cancer treatments.

 

Angela has been on an exciting journey for many years serving children at risk in Thailand and Cambodia. She has invested everything she has in the lives of these kids. She met her husband Thearith and he joined her in Thailand during that time. Today they have three small kids of their own.

 

Everything in life was going well and then, unexpectedly in September 2019, Angela needed a surgery to remove a small skin cancer. She has since then had various basal cell carcinoma cancer moles removed always with the hope that there will be no further surgeries needed.

 

In October 2021 she traveled with her family for two weeks to Colorado for a debriefing after returning to America from Cambodia. They returned to America to serve as missionaries with YWAM in Pittsburgh. On the last day of the debriefing Angela noticed a lump on her collarbone. She thought it maybe was a swollen lymph node due to the stress from past few months. She called an ENT doctor who did a needle biopsy. She received the news, on October 29th, that the swollen lymph node was stage 3-4 melanoma cancer. She had various scans, and surgery the day before Thanksgiving to remove 7 lymph nodes, and now is starting treatment.

 

Angela is now on a journey to rebuild her health with an integrative approach using conventional medicine as well as holistic treatments. She has adopted an organic, whole-foods, plant-based diet. She is also taking numerous cancer-fighting supplements and is using various fasting and detox protocols. She is focused on lifestyle changes such as reducing stress, counseling, prayer, and exercise. She is working with a complimentary health practitioner to identify the best path forward.

 

While her insurance covers expenses such as imaging and lab blood work, unfortunately it does not cover the holistic treatments, supplements and organic foods that are helping her body heal and are costly. Angela and Thearith are living as missionaries and are reliant on donors who support their ministry. They don’t like to ask for financial support but these funds that they are requesting will help pay for the various treatments needed that are not covered by insurance.

 

The estimated out-of-pocket cost for treatment next year will be $42,000.
