Help Angela Manley Eakins' Medical Bills
Donation protected
On May 19th, Angela suffered a severe seizure, fell to the ground, and hit her head really hard. This resulted in hemorrhaging in her brain, both on the outside as well as the inside of her brain. She was life flighted from her home in Amity to OHSU in Portland, OR, where she underwent emergency surgery to assess the damage and stop the bleeding within her brain. The doctors have determined that she has a traumatic brain injury, there was a lot of bleeding, and her brain was twisted, with one part having folded and moved to the other side of her skull. She has been in ICU, in a coma since her surgery on the 19th.
Angela has had a few small seizures since being admitted to OHSU. She has had some response to pain stimulus, like opening her eyes and moving her extremities. She is also breathing on her own. How long she will remain in a coma varies from patient to patient, but doctors have advised to expect her to be in the hospital for a few weeks as she has serious injury to her brain, and is still very sick.
We won’t know her prognosis, or the extent of damage until she regains consciousness and can be assessed. Also, Angela’s quality of life post injury is unknown at this time. As the family travels back and forth daily to the hospital, as well as the huge medical bills for life flight and her care at OHSU (insurance only covers so much), any donation towards supporting the family is truly appreciated. If you are unable to donate at this time, we’d appreciate you sharing this post. And your love, support and most importantly your prayers are so appreciated.
