In April, 2021, I was excited to discover I’d been accepted to pursue a PhD in mathematics at Howard University!
In August, I will be moving from my hometown, Trenton, NJ, to Washington, D.C. to pursue this degree but because it is a PhD, I am not allowed to hold a job outside of my studies. Cost of living in DC is high and I am in need of financial assistance with living expenses, in particular rent, for the 9 months of the 2021 - 2022 academic year (August 2021 - May 2022). Most apartments range from $2000-$2800 per month.
Upon completion of this degree, I plan to start a business focused on making mathematical knowledge and help accessible to all students, in particular students of color and in low income areas. Additionally, I hope to expose students to all types of mathematics, including a history of mathematics in various cultures (not just the typical algebra, geometry, calculus, etc) to all students, hoping to foster a greater understanding and appreciation, and in a perfect world, dare I say, a love of mathematics :-)
Please consider donating whatever you can to help me take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity to study at this prestigious university and achieve my dreams of sharing my love of mathematics and helping others!
If you have any questions, feel free to message me.
Thank you all for your continued support!!
