My sister Angel is finally getting her kidney transplant on August 12, after 16+ years of fighting kidney disease alongside Lupus. This dream is happening thanks to our amazing brother, who gave a kidney through a paired donation program when he wasn’t a match for her. His selflessness opened the door to a donor in Michigan—and gave Angel a second chance at life.

Angel’s one of the most determined people I know. She works overnight shifts at Kroger while studying full-time at the University of Cincinnati, pursuing a degree in Cancer Registry Management. Even with all she’s faced, she’s stayed focused on her goals and never stopped pushing forward.

But recovery will be tough. She’ll be out of work for 3 to 9 months, and the financial strain is more than she can carry alone. Rent, utilities, follow-up care—it all adds up. We’ve started this GoFundMe so she can focus on healing, not worrying.
