Help Angel Get Life-Changing FND Rehabilitation

Donation protected
Hi Our names are Zoe and Lisa and we are the friends of an amazing lady called Angel.
please take a moment to read her story and understand why we are trying to raise money and awareness on such an unspoken neurological illness.
In December 2023, Angel was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) after multiple seizures. Since November 2024, Angel has had over 40 more seizures, lost the ability to walk unaided, and developed speech issues. Despite repeated hospital visits and referrals, she’s received no treatment or support from neurology.

Angel has also faced shocking mistreatment—nurses threw water on her during a seizure, and a neurologist told her she’d be “running around Disney” in 20 days before rushing off to catch a train. That recovery never came.

FND is a serious condition with no NHS treatment or medication as it’s functional. Angel has been told to “adapt” and advised by a receptionist to apply for a wheelchair through the council.

Apex Neuro offers real hope by helping retrain the brain and nervous system.
We’re fundraising to get Angel the care she deserves and a chance at recovery.

On August 15th, We Zoe and Lisa will begin a powerful challenge: walking over 140 miles over 5 days from Hemel Hempstead where we live to Manchester.
Each day, we’ll set off at 5am, stopping overnight in , Leighton Buzzard, Northampton, Peak District, Stock Port, before arriving at our final destination — Manchester Central

This isn’t just a walk. It’s a mission. A promise. A tribute to someone who brings light, laughter, and love to everyone she meets.
We’re walking for Angel — a vibrant, kind-hearted young woman whose life was turned upside down by Functional Neurological Disorder (FND).
With any life-changing diagnosis, challenges are met — and unfortunately, life as Angel once knew is now very different.

Since the onset of her condition, Angel has had to relearn how to use her legs and walk again. Basic daily tasks have become monumental. She now needs crutches 24/7 or her wheelchair.
She also experiences a stutter (which affects her speech — especially tough for someone who’s always been a lovable chatterbox ), leg tremors, seizures, chronic pain, and extreme fatigue. Her seizures can strike out of nowhere and leave her severely weak and confused for days.

This condition has impacted every area of Angel’s life — including her ability to work. It has paused the vibrant, independent life she loved and thrived in. She adored her job and always went above and beyond to help others, supporting family, friends, and even strangers without hesitation.

For those who know Angel, you’ll understand when we say she’s a ray of sunshine — a soul so full of kindness and love, it’s a blessing just to know her. These past seven months have been agonising for all of us, watching her face such drastic limitations. And yet, she’s never stopped smiling. She cracks jokes even when she’s scared. Her resilience, humour, and grace under pressure are nothing short of inspiring.

A Symbol of Strength and Unity At the end of this journey, Angel will be joining us for the final half-mile. Hand in hand, we will walk beside her — as she has walked beside so many of us in our times of need. That final stretch represents courage, hope, and all the love surrounding her.

We also want to honour Angel’s beautiful family and friends — especially her parents, Jane and Andy. Two of the most amazing, selfless, and kind-hearted humans you could ever meet. Their strength, warmth, and unwavering love for their daughter is truly moving. Watching how they’ve cared for and stood by Angel has been nothing short of humbling.

Our Mission

We — Angel’s family and friends — are committed to raising awareness for FND, supporting critical research, and most urgently, raising funds for Angel to attend specialist neurological rehabilitation at Apex in Manchester.
This centre offers tailored, expert care that could be life-changing for Angel — helping her regain strength, mobility, and quality of life.

This challenge is only just one of many efforts to raise funds and awareness. There will be more fundraisers along the way, and we invite you to follow this journey, share it with others, and help us spread the word.

Every donation goes directly to support Angel’s rehabilitation.
Any funds not used will be donated to FND Hope Charity to help others on similar journeys.
You can help by donating, sharing, fundraising, or simply sending love and encouragement.

We would like to take this moment to say just how incredibly proud we are of Angel, from how far she has come through all the years we have known her and all her ups and downs.
Even on the hardest days, she still finds a way to smile. Even when her body is in pain or shutting down, she reaches out to lift others. Her strength is quiet, fierce, and deeply moving. She has faced every part of this journey with bravery and light — and it is nothing short of an honour to walk this for her.

How to Support:
• Donate whatever you can
• Share this campaign far and wide
• Talk about FND and help raise awareness
• Or simply send love, strength, and hope to Angel and her family

We’re walking over 140 miles — but this journey is measured not in distance, but in love, resilience, and the power of a community coming together for someone they love.

This is all about a Journey of Strength, Hope & Healing

Let’s support this together — for Angel, Jane, Andy and all her family. Also for everyone who deserves the chance to heal

We are in the process of setting up a social media group and will update once up and running.

Thank you xx
